Episode 5

Hints

Cassette Tape Case

  • On the case label, there is a list of jazz songs. Use the hint found in the letter from Jasper to figure out which song is different from the rest.

Clock Face Print

  • Use the jeweler's loupe to read the small font on the clock hands, where you will find several military times paired with either a radian or a letter. To solve the hidden message, reference an item from Episode 2.

Jeweler's Loupe

  • This item can be used in conjunction with two other items in this episode.

Letter from Jasper

  • In his letter, Jasper mentions two jazz artists: Dizzy and Monk. These names will help you solve a puzzle in this episode.

Letter from Sheriff

  • The jeweler's loupe can be used to reveal a significant detail in this item.

Letter from Sylvia

  • This letter hints at the timeline of Sylvia's correspondence.

Reveals

Cassette Tape Case

  • All of the listed songs are by Thelonious Monk, except for "Manteca", which is by Dizzy Gillespie.
  • "Manteca" is the password to open one of the PDFs in the hidden LFoA archives.

Clock Face Print

  • The radians and their corresponding angles can be found on a standard radian circle. These angles match up with the positions of the letters in the grasshopper print from Episode 2. After finding all the letters, arrange them by their corresponding times in order from earliest to latest.
  • For example, the first letter in the message is 0:00 (π/4). The radian 5π/4 calculates to 225 degrees, which is the angle where "A" is located on the grasshopper print.
  • The hidden message reads: "AM I THE CURE OR AM I THE DISEASE".
  • In the hidden LFoA archives, there is a PDF titled "Disease" that you can access in this episode.

Letter from Sheriff

  • Use the jeweler's loupe to magnify the circular part of the logo in the left corner. There are two differences in the logo, when compared to the previous episodes' letters. There is an arrow hidden in the wheel spokes, representing the poison arrows of Pestilence, and the horse's mane is white, representing the White Horse of the apocalypse.
  • This image is a hint to which PDF to access in the hidden LFoA archives.
