A car accident killed Jesse, he was intoxicated while driving and didn't stop at a red light. He was hit directly on the driver side. He was dead instantly. There was another passenger in the car who also died. The other passenger was a girl named Lindsay Stone, sitting in the front passenger seat.

I suppose this is horrible luck, but another strange coincidence is Jesse died on the same day, just one year after Rich and Emma got their new cell phones... Probably just a weird coincidence.

Jesse Wolf died in Phoenix, Arizona. So, he wasn't even in California anymore, or maybe... he never was?
